Privacy Policy
SoundCues is provided by Spotlight Entertainment LA Events, a California corporation (“we” or “us”). This policy covers the public app, its private-iCloud synchronization feature, app support communications, and the SoundCues pages on SoundCuesApp.com. Questions may be sent to app@spotlightla.com.
Information SoundCues handles
SoundCues stores Shows, boards, pad names, notes, settings, layouts, imported audio, recordings, source notes, website shortcuts, edit information, and recovery snapshots on the user’s device. The app does not require a separate SoundCues account.
User-entered names, notes, filenames, recordings, or website shortcuts may contain personal or confidential information. Users decide what to enter and what media to import. The app does not include third-party advertising or behavioral-tracking SDKs. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Optional private iCloud synchronization
Synchronization starts off on a new installation. The first time the user switches Sync on, the app explains the private-iCloud storage, automatic transfer and deletion behavior, storage use, data-loss risk, and independent-backup recommendation. If the user selects Turn On Sync, SoundCues records that disclosure version and uses Apple CloudKit to store information in the private iCloud database associated with the user’s Apple Account. Selecting Not Now leaves Sync off and the app continues working locally. The same disclosure does not appear again merely because Sync is turned off and back on; a materially revised disclosure may require a new acknowledgment.
Private iCloud Sync allows eligible devices signed in to that Apple Account to exchange Show information and managed media. Synced information may include Show, board, and pad names; notes; layouts; playback, cue, effect, and edit settings; timestamps; custom website shortcuts; audio display names, sizes, extensions, fingerprints, and file contents; random app-generated record and device identifiers; and a generic device category such as Mac, iPhone, or iPad.
The app does not place the user’s Apple ID, Apple Account email address, contacts, precise location, personalized device name, browser cookies, browsing history, Finder paths, or security bookmarks in SoundCues sync records. Finder-referenced originals are not uploaded until the user chooses to copy them into SoundCues. Private CloudKit records count against the user’s iCloud storage quota and are processed by Apple under Apple’s terms and privacy policy. They are not available to other SoundCues users and are not visible to us through Apple’s developer portal.
Sync can operate automatically according to the user’s selected setting. An edit made on one device may therefore be uploaded without a separate Share action and later downloaded by another device. Offline changes may remain queued until connectivity and iCloud are available. Sync status, storage notices, and conflicts are handled in the app. Users can export their Shows and can use the app’s sync data controls to delete SoundCues records from iCloud without deleting local Shows. Deleting, replacing, or resolving synced information may affect other devices using the same Apple Account.
We do not operate a separate server that receives synced Shows or audio. We may receive limited App Store, TestFlight, purchase, crash, and performance information from Apple according to the user’s Apple settings and Apple’s policies, but the public app does not send media or project names to a separate analytics service operated by us.
For Apple App Store privacy disclosures, ongoing storage of private CloudKit audio and Show information may be described as collection of Audio Data and Other User Content for App Functionality even though Apple, rather than us, operates the private database and we cannot view those records through the developer portal.
Sharing and third-party services
When the user deliberately shares or transfers a Show, Apple’s selected service—for example AirDrop, Messages, Mail, iCloud Drive, or another Files provider—handles that transfer under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not receive the Show unless the user separately sends it to us.
When a user opens a user-created website shortcut, the site opens in the default browser. That site may receive normal web-request information, including an IP address and browser or device information, under its own privacy policy. We do not receive the search or website activity.
Microphone, files, and photos
Microphone access is requested only when the user chooses to record a soundbite. File and photo access is used only for items the user selects or shares. Imported media is processed and stored locally and, if synchronization is enabled, eligible managed copies may also be stored in the user’s private iCloud database.
Support and website information
If a user emails, calls, or otherwise contacts support, we receive the contact information the user provides, the communication and attachments, and information needed to investigate the request, such as device type, operating-system version, app version, diagnostic details, and steps to reproduce a problem. Users should not send media, credentials, client information, or other sensitive material unless requested and authorized to do so.
The SoundCues webpages are hosted on OpenAI Sites using Cloudflare infrastructure for delivery and security. Website hosting can involve processing an IP address, browser and device information, requested page, referring page, and date and time as needed to deliver and protect the site. If optional analytics, forms, embedded content, or marketing tools are enabled, this policy and any required consent controls will be updated before those tools are used.
We do not use app activity or the SoundCues webpages for cross-site behavioral advertising. Because the app does not perform cross-context behavioral tracking, it does not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals. A browser, Cloudflare, Apple, or a linked third-party site may provide its own privacy controls. Third parties are not permitted by us to collect personally identifiable information through these app pages for cross-site tracking; linked sites operate independently after the user leaves our pages.
Categories, sources, purposes, and recipients
Depending on the features used, information handled can fall into these categories: identifiers and contact information supplied to support; internet or electronic activity associated with visiting the website; commercial information supplied by Apple about purchases; device, crash, performance, and diagnostic information supplied by Apple or the user; audio data and other user content stored locally or in private CloudKit; and inferences inherent in user-created organization, labels, and settings. Sources are the user, the user’s devices, Apple, and our website host. We use the information for app functionality, synchronization, support, security, debugging, purchase administration, legal compliance, and protecting rights. We do not use it for targeted advertising or unrelated profiling.
Information may be processed by Apple for App Store, TestFlight, CloudKit, diagnostics, purchases, and user-selected sharing; by OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare for website hosting and security; by a communications provider when the user contacts us; by professional advisers under confidentiality; or by authorities when legally required. It may also be transferred in a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of the app or related business assets, subject to applicable law and this policy. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
How information is used
The app uses this information to save and play Shows, perform edits, organize and recover content, import and export packages, synchronize enabled devices, identify duplicates, present storage and conflict information, and provide features the user requests. We do not use user media for advertising, profiling, or training artificial-intelligence models.
Retention and deletion
Local content remains until the user deletes it, removes the app, or uses a system restore that replaces device data. Users can delete Shows, boards, pads, unused audio, and recovery data using app controls. Uninstalling the app normally removes that device’s local container but does not necessarily remove exported copies or private iCloud records.
Synced records remain in the user’s private iCloud database until they are deleted through app controls, removed under Apple’s policies, or otherwise replaced through synchronization. Because deletions and conflict choices may propagate, users should keep an independent export or backup before removing important material. Copies sent to AirDrop, Messages, Mail, Files providers, or another person remain under the recipient’s or service’s control.
Support communications and related diagnostic records are retained only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, maintain support history, protect security and legal rights, and satisfy legal obligations. Website security logs, purchase records, TestFlight information, and Apple-provided diagnostics are retained according to the relevant provider’s controls and our reasonable operational, tax, accounting, security, and legal needs. When a fixed period is not possible, retention is based on the nature and sensitivity of the information, why it is needed, legal requirements, and risk of harm. We delete or de-identify information we control when it is no longer reasonably needed.
Security and reliability
The app uses Apple platform storage and private CloudKit services, content fingerprints, and file validation designed to reduce unauthorized access, incomplete transfers, and corruption. No storage or transfer system is completely secure or guaranteed against failure or loss. Users should protect their devices and Apple Account, maintain independent copies of original media and important Shows, and review sync status before relying on another device.
Children
SoundCues is a general-audience production tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly request personal information from children under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child sent information directly to us may contact app@spotlightla.com so we can review and, where applicable, delete it. A minor who is permitted to use the app should do so with a parent or legal guardian’s permission and supervision.
Privacy choices and California rights
Users can choose whether to enable synchronization, can export Shows, can delete local content using app controls, and can use the app’s sync-data controls for private CloudKit records. Device Settings control microphone, photos, files, iCloud, diagnostics, and cellular access. Apple controls App Store purchase history and Apple-account data.
Depending on applicable law, a person may have rights to know or access information, receive information about categories and recipients, correct inaccurate information, delete information, obtain a portable copy, limit certain uses of sensitive information, or opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so we do not offer a sale/sharing opt-out link. We will not discriminate against a person for exercising an applicable privacy right.
Because private CloudKit records are associated with the user’s Apple Account and are not visible to us through Apple’s developer portal, we generally cannot retrieve or identify a particular user’s synced media. Requests concerning information we possess may be sent to app@spotlightla.com. The request should identify the person, the right being exercised, and the relevant interaction with us. We will verify the request proportionately, may ask an authorized agent for proof of authority, and will respond as required by applicable law. We may retain information necessary to document and comply with the request.
Where this policy applies
This policy is written for the current United States launch plan. Making the app available elsewhere can create additional notice, consent, legal-basis, international-transfer, representative, children’s-privacy, cookie, and regulator requirements. The launch territory must be reviewed before distribution. Nonwaivable privacy rights that apply where a user lives are not limited by this policy.
Changes
We may update this policy as features, service providers, or legal requirements change. A new effective date will identify revisions, and material changes will be presented as required by law.
